The GTC4Lusso was unveiled in 2016 as a family-orientated Ferrari. Enzo Ferrari himself is well known for preferring these four-seater Gran Turismo over Ferrari sports cars. The name means Grand Tourer Coupe Four (GTC4) Luxury (Lusso).
The Ferrari GTC4Lusso engine capacity is 6.3 litres with a powerful V12 engine which, through intense research and development, has made the GTC4Lusso the most powerful car in its segment with 680 horsepower and a thrillingly fast top speed of 208 mph. Performance has been improved through a series of technical solutions. The E-Diff, F1-Trac, SCM, ESC and 4RM EVO systems have all been integrated with the new Ferrari-patented 4RM – four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering system – to create smooth and effortless handling.
Even though the overall shape of the Lusso is unchanged compared to its predecessor – the Ferrari FF – there are many visible differences. The rear lights especially have the first quad rear lights on a Ferrari since the 612 Scaglietti and a new front grille features integrated air intakes. The most obvious upgrade in the interior is the 10.25-inch widescreen infotainment system that operates the same as a smartphone.
There are over 25 paint choices, five alloy wheel designs, nine brake calliper colours and a host of carbon-fibre upgrades for the bodywork that Ferrari offers buyers of the GTC4Lusso. With such an extensive list of upgrades and choices, it is more than likely, there won’t be one example produced to the same specification, potentially making each one a unique car.
Ferrari also produced a rear wheel-drive-only version of the GTC4Lusso known as the GTC4Lusso T. This was powered by a V8 engine with lesser displacement but the four-wheel steering system from its V12 variant is still retained. One of the most innovative features of the GTC4 Lusso T is Variable Boost Management. This control software adjusts torque delivery to best suit the gear selected which helps deliver increasingly powerful pick up as the revs rise while also optimising fuel consumption and still delivering the same driving pleasure.
